Research Area 1: Improved understanding of epidemic and emerging infectious animal diseases
I am member of the Department of Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution, at the University Complutense of Madrid. My research aims at understanding variation in mechanisms of disease resistance and tolerance in wild hosts. I am particularly interested in birds, and would like to join a consortium focussed in avian influenza, especially from the perspective of host immunology and epidemiology, focussing on role of wild birds.
The University Complutense of Madrid is one of the biggest and best ranked Universities of Spain. The School of Biology, and in particular our research group brings together experts in biogeography, behavioural ecology, ecophysiology, evolutionary ecology, population genetics and conservation biology. We use a wide array of techniques and scales of approach, spanning from geographic information systems to the molecular biology toolbox.
