Research Area 1: Improved understanding of epidemic and emerging infectious animal diseases
Epidemiology of IBV and enlightenment of host-pathogen interactions by OMIC tools (epIBVomic)
Infectious bronchitis (IB) is a respiratory system disease that is only affecting chickens and causing widespread, acute course, serious economic losses all over the world. The epIBVomic project aims to develop a fundamental understanding of host-pathogen interactions by using OMIC tools (transcriptomics, microbiotomics), to enlighten the contribution of the migratory wild flocks (natural environment of the virus) on prevalence and epidemiology of the disease. the outline of the proposal is ready and will be sent to the possible collaborators.
We are looking for partners from Europe with OMIC analysis skills with a virology background.
Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is the leading Veterinary Faculty of Turkey. Fully accredited by international (EAEVE) and national (VEDEK) organizations. The department of genetics has 2 laboratories, Molecular Research Laboratory I and II. Laboratory I is mainly used for DNA based analysis and cell culture. Laboratory II is mainly used for RNA based studies. We have traditional sequencing instruments in our genetics lab and also NGS (iontorrent) device in the Microbiology lab. All of the instrumental infrastructures are available for research-based projects. We also use service procurement for advanced analysis methods.
