Research Area 2: Generic technology platforms for producing novel and/or improved vaccines
The aim of this project is the development of recombinant subunit vaccine against fish pathogenic Lactococcus garvieae through reverse vaccinology. For this project, our organization has types of equipment and experts on challenge trials. Especially, challenge trials performed with Lactococcus garvieae and other fish pathogenic bacteria in our hatchery systems. Also, there are experts study on Lactococcus garvieae in our team. Furthermore, There are well-equipment molecular biology laboratory and experts for recombinant protein production.
On the other hand, only few people have bioinformatic skills in our team so we need experts and infrastructure for bioinformatics study of the project. Although few people have the ability to do cell culture, our team does not have experience on antisera production, adherence inhibition assay, and ELISA.
As a result, we need partners which can help us for bioinformatic analysis, immunological test during this project.
Central Fisheries Research Institute was established in 1987 and have sustained applied research activities since 1988. The aim of our institute is to investigate aquaculture and seafood in seas especially in Black sea and inland waters in Turkey and to ensure the adoption of research results. Today 50 experts are studying on different fish species, particularly Black sea trout, Sturgeon, Turbot in our İnstitute. Aquaculture research and production have been perform with seawater hatchery and recirculating aquaculture system. Also, diagnosis and research on bacterial and viral fish diseases have been performed conventionally and molecularly in our fish pathology and molecular biology laboratories.
